Newtons Nook -Step by Step Tutorial - How to Create a Rainbow using Copic Markers

Create a Rainbow using Copic Markers

Today I’m going to share a tutorial on How to Create a Rainbow using Copic Markers. This month my Guest Designing over at Newton’s Nook so I’ll be using Newton’s Nook Stamps. I’m actually using Newton’s Curious Christmas Stamp Set. Sometimes you just have to think a little outside the box to use those Holiday stamps all year long.

Coloring a Rainbow can seem a little intimidating, especially if you have nothing to go off of. So today I’m going to show you step by step on how to Create a Rainbow using Copic Markers. You can use pretty much any of the reds, yellows, green etc as long as you have 3 coordinating colors.

First I cut out a rectangle with my dies and also cut an inner rectangle inside, for the window. Then I cut out the rectangle of m Cryogen Cardstock matching the size of the window. This will be for the rainbow, outside of the window. Then using my BG10 I just colored one layer over the entire Cryogen rectangle. Now let’s get ready to color the Rainbow..

Here’s my Copic List for the Rainbow:

  • Reds – R22, R24, R26
  • Oranges – YR07, YR04
  • Yellows – Y17, Y13
  • Greens – YG67, YG17, YG13
  • Blues – B26, B14, B12
  • Blue Violet – BV04, BV02, BV00
  • Red Violet – RV04, RV02, RV00

After you’ve completed the rainbow. Cut stipe of the brown cardstock for the inner part of the window framing and glue them down. I added some Cloud dies around my rainbow. Then using foam adhesive, adhere the window to the rainbow cardstock. This will add some dimension to really give you a ‘window’ look. I mounted my cute little Newton Stamp and voila. He’s looking outside, ‘Wishing you a day filled with sunshine!’ I used my Cool Grey Copic Markers to color this little darling Newton.
